Softball
JV - Open to girls 4th-6th Grades (will combine with SPPS if needed)
Varsity – Open to girls 7th-8th Grades (will combine with SPPS if needed)
Students are able to sign up for both Track and Softball
- Softball runs from middle of March through May (weather dependent)
- Practices will be at the discretion of the coach.
- Games are held at various parks around WNY
- All athletes will have to have the proper health paperwork into the nurse. Any forms you may need will be provided to those that sign up.
- If your daughter is interested in participating, please fill out the following form and return it to office, by 3/6/2020
- Coaching: If we are able to field our own team we will need coaches, please let me know if you are interested in coaching. If we do not have enough and combine with SPPS but would still like to coach I will coordinate with the AD at SPPS.
Track and Field
Open to girls and boys 2nd to 8th Grades
Students are able to sign up for both Track and Softball
- Track and Field runs from middle of March through May (weather dependent)
- Athletes will compete in 4 SITA meets and if chosen the Diocesan Track meet on May 18th or 19th during school
- Practices will be at the discretion of the coach (usually twice a week) after school either in the parking lot or gym. I will also be able to use the St. Francis track from time to time.
- Meets are held during the week and on Saturdays at either St. Francis, Canisius, or Orchard Park tracks.,
- All athletes will have to have the proper health paperwork into the nurse. Any forms you may need will be provided to those that sign up.
- If your son or daughter is interested in participating, please fill out the following form and return it to office by 3/6/2020
- Coaching: Brian Ferris will once again coach, but is need of assistants to help with practice. We are also required to provide 4-6 parent volunteers per meet. Once we get a schedule I will send out a sign up sheet for meet volunteers.

What your child needs to participate in 2019-20 Sports
1. Physical Exam dated after 8/1/19
2. Permission to participate / health history completed, signed by parent after 8/1/19
3. If permission form was completed and signed prior to 8/1/19, you will need to complete, sign and date an undated permission form.
4. Code of ethics signed and dated by parent and child participating.

Athletic Fee
The Athletic Fee applies to all students from Grade 1 to Grade 8 that will be playing any school sport in the 2019-20 School Year. List of sports can be found below.
Athletes in Grades 1-3: $15 for the year
Athletes in Grades 4 - 8: $30 for the year
In addition to the revenue raised by the Basketball Tournament, this fee will help cover the costs of leagues, referees, tournaments, equipment and uniforms.
THIS FEE WILL BE COLLECTED ONCE IN THE FALL FOR THE ENTIRE SCHOOL YEAR.

If you feel that this fee will prohibit your child(sen) from participating in school sports, please contact Mr. Brian Ferris to discuss options.
Sports Physicals Southtowns Catholic School abides by the policies set forth by the Department of Catholic Education Athletic Handbook and the Frontier School District.
Any student interested in participating on a Southtowns Catholic sports team during this school year MUST have a valid physical. The physical must have been done within 12 months of the end of the season, and the school nurse must have proof from your doctor.
Any student not in compliance with this requirement will not be able to participate in athletics in any way (practice or games) until the sports physical has been completed. More information on this policy is available in the Athletic Handbook available in the school office, from Mr. Bandelian, Principal or from the school nurse.

Protecting God's Children
The US Conference of Bishops and the Diocese of Buffalo mandate that coaches must attend a "Protecting God's Children Workshop" before they can coach. Please consider attending one of the following workshops by checking available sessions on the Diocese of Buffalo website.
You can register on-line at www.buffalodiocese.org. Scroll down the left die to "Protecting God's Children". Go to the Registering Page and register.
Even though you attend the workshop at another parish, make sure that the site you choose at the local level is Southtowns Catholic School.
Once you have completed the workshop, you will be registered with Virtus.org. Visit the site to complete monthly Training Bulletins and yearly certification.
