Athletics Policy

Sports are an important part of the overall program at Southtowns Catholic School. They are, however, secondary in importance to academics. Participation in sports is a privilege. Coaches should be respected in the same way as teachers. Practice sessions must be attended and good behavior is the rule at all time.

Academic Guidelines for Sports Participation

Participating students must pass ALL subject areas to be eligible. If, during a sports season, a student fails one subject, they will  be suspended until there is a marked improvement in the subject area. If failing two or more subjects, he or she will no longer be eligible to participate in the sport.

Students may also be suspended from a sport if they are disrespectful to a teacher or coach.

Students are reinstated upon approval of the principal and /or teacher.

Team Participation

The decision of team makeup is at the discretion of the coach.

Students must be current with their school physicals and have a signed release from the school nurse to particpate in any sport.

Sports Guidelines & Conduct

At all times, students represent Southtowns Catholic School and should act accordingly practicing good behavior and respect.

Students, parents & coaches must sign a Sports Conduct Agreement in the Athletic Handbook, found on www.buffalodce.org, as mandated by the Diocese of Buffalo, Department of Education.

Failure to abide by the policies are requirements will result in the inability to participate in a sport.
