Today, we gathered for Mass to celebrate the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of Mary. Even though this feast day occurs in the season of Advent, which prepares for the birth of Jesus Christ, the Immaculate Conception refers to the conception of Mary in the womb of her mother, St. Anne. Students learned that from her conception, Mary was never stained by original sin. The word immaculate literally means pure. Thank you to our 7th and 8th graders for reading in Mass today; they did an excellent job!
