As a STREAM school (located in Lake View but part of the Diocese of Buffalo), Southtowns Catholic School participated in a Computer Science Week event - "Hour of Code." As an extension activity, the 8th grade students went on a field experience to the Microsoft Store in the Galleria Mall. The Microsoft Store offers educational programming on how to program a game using Project Spark. Students used the Surface Pro to program a game. The students also learned about careers at Microsoft. The highlight of the student experience was the Microsoft Scavenger Hunt where students looked throughout the store and touched all types of technology to fulfill the scavenger hunt questions .
