The "S" in STREAM is for science but on October 25th, it was for "slime". Grade 3 took turns scooping out a baking pumpkin, measuring glue, water & starch to make pumpkin slime. The students got to see the reaction of when the glue dissolved in the warm water and then turned to slime once the starch was added. When they were done, they got to play with it at their desks.
Recipe:
1 Baking Pumpkin
1/2 Cup Clear Glue
1/2 Cup Warm Water
1/2 Cup of Laundry Starch
plastic
bowl
knife
spoon
* baking soda optional
Cut pumpkin top off, scoop out some guts (not all) and set aside. In the bowl, add water and then glue. Mix until dissolved. Pour mixture into the pumpkin. Add starch and stir. Make sure you get plenty of pumpkin guts mixed into your slime. Now you have pumpkin slime! To make this less sticky and easier to clean up, dust it with *baking soda.
