Hello! My name is Chelsea Ebert and I am the fourth grade teacher here at Southtowns Catholic School! I am so excited to be a part of this wonderful school, and community. This is my first year as a full-time teacher, but I have had a variety of experiences that have helped prepare me for this year!
I received my Bachelors of Science in Childhood Inclusive Education from the State University of New York at Fredonia in 2013, and my Masters of Science in Special Education from Daemen College in 2015. During my time at Daemen, I was a Graduate Assistant at The Thomas Reynolds Center for Special Education. During this time, I taught a small group of fourth grade students from Amherst in an after school program. We focused on homework help, and taught a math or ELA lesson Monday through Thursday. This was my first experience with fourth grade, and I loved it! I also taught at a summer camp through the Thomas Reynolds Center where students read and did activities with different fables. Our final project for the camp was that the students wrote, and performed their own fable! It was very exciting.
After Daemen, I started substitute teaching. I was a substitute at Maryvale, Sweet Home, and Alden. I substituted for almost every grade level, and subject! In the 2017-2018 school year I was offered a position as the building substitute for Maryvale Intermediate. This meant I was at the Intermediate School every day; I even taught fourth grade for about two months while a teacher was out on leave. My time as a substitute and my year as a building substitute have really helped me grow and learn as an educator.
In my spare time, you can find me spending time with my puppy, Nebula! We love going on walks at playing at the park!
Again, I am very excited to be a part of the Southtowns Catholic School Family! The staff, parents, and students have all been extremely welcoming and helpful!
