Miss Caitlin Garrys' Grades 6 & 7 classes are reading Harry Potter: The Sorcerer Stone by author J. K. Rowling. There are many benefits to reading Harry Potter. It teaches students to have positive outlook on school: prioritizes the idea of studying, receiving good grades and respecting their teachers. It gives a strong sense of friendship and honesty. The book teaches the aspect of accepting and understanding others. Harry Potter portrays the idea of accepting everyone for exactly who they are. With a strong use of literary elements to explore; imagery, flashbacks, alliteration, and metaphors (to name a few). It also teaches them that hope can never be extinguished and to never give up. Miss Garry had each student will out a survey and then it sorted them into a house. The kids then built a board with what each house represented. Pictured: Grade 6
