Sweet Science
Students in Mr. Stirk's Grade 8 Science class made Rock Candy. The used water, sugar, a hot plate, scale, thermometer & a skewer. Each group had to use the Solubility Curve to figure out how to make a super saturated solution of sugar & water. When the sugar was dissolved, they placed the skewer into the solution and as the water cooled, the sugar was attracted to the stick to form rock candy. Who knew that the "S" in STREAM could also be Sweet!
