The journey in art class to make acorn people was an interesting one and turned into more of a science project. Apparently, insects called weevils lay eggs in acorns that eventually burrow their way out of the acorn and then burrow into the ground to lay more eggs. They are harmless but gross 🤢. During the week, Dr. Stahl and her students prepared to make acorn people, however, these grubs kept crawling out into the classroom. Sadly, the acorn bodies had to be thrown away and only the hats were saved. The students did make drawings of their acorn people, so not all was lost. It was a blast and a learning experience!
