Saint John Paul II Parish had their annual Blessing of the Backpacks on September 7th. Before Mass started, students at Southtowns Catholic School placed all their backpacks in front of the Altar. During Mass, Father Peter Karalus and Father Michael LaMarca held up their hands, said a prayer for the back packs and everything they symbolize for the school year. When they were done, they sprinkled the back packs and congregation with Holy Water. This is a wonderful event held every year during the first week of school.
