Saint John Paul II Parish had their annual Blessing of the Backpacks on September 6th. Before Mass started, students at Southtowns Catholic School placed all their backpacks in front of the Altar. During Mass, Father Sean DiMaria held up his hands, said a prayer for the backpacks and everything they symbolize for the school year. When he was done, he sprinkled the backpacks and congregation with Holy Water. This is a wonderful event held every year during the first week of school.
