The Erie County Department of Environment & Planning invited all schools & youth groups in Erie and Niagara counties to participate in a rain barrel painting contest with a theme focusing on stormwater pollution prevention or recycling rainwater. Southtowns Catholic School put together a club to submit a rain barrel. With a group of students from grades 3 to 7, we designed and painted our barrel. When it was finished, each student from preschool 3 to grade 8 placed their thumbprints on the barrel and they were turned into fish. The rain barrel painting contest awards ceremony will be held at 12 noon on Earth Day, Sunday April 22, 2018 in the auditorium at the Buffalo Museum of Science.
