Mrs. Grad's 1st grade did a reading adoption center in their class! These buddies are special in that they don't need food, water, or sleep. They just need lots of books read to them to help them thrive!
The first graders had to fill out an adoption application for their buddies, listing what books they liked to read, and their top choices for a buddy. Then, the buddy who had the same reading interest as them got matched to them and they got to adopt them! The kiddos filled out an "all about my reading buddy" sheet where they came up with their name and age, and signed a promise to read to them every day. The kids get to take them home and keep them to read to. They're so excited about this!
