In Mrs. Grad's 1st-grade STREAM activity this week, students used candy pumpkins and toothpicks to build the highest free-standing towers. They tried a bunch of different ways, but at the end of the session, two groups were able to get them to stay standing on their own. The class discussed how these two groups used sturdy bases which helped.
