Bio

My family has been parishioners at Our Lady of Perpetual Help and now Blessed John Paul II for over 21 years. My four children attended and graduated from Southtowns Catholic School. Three of them now attend Niagara University and one is a sophomore in high school. I have a strong bond with both the parish and school community. They are my extended family.

I was the President and Board Member of the Home School Association (now, PTG) for over 16 years, and have taught at the Preschool and now at the Elementary school starting in 1993.

My years at Southtowns Catholic School have brought me much joy. It is a pleasure and a privilege to watch our students grow from Pre K through Eighth grade. They bloom in knowledge and spirituality into wonderful young men and ladies ready for high school and the challenges of the future.

Technology has come a long way in the past several years and we are working to integrate technology in the classroom, curriculum, as well as in the computer lab.

Students work their way through the Diocesan Technology Curriculum starting in Kindergarten.  I partner with the teachers to integrate the core curriculum with technology.

Today, Southtowns Catholic School is on the cutting edge of technology with the purchase of IPads and Smart Boards from a generous donation from the Schneider Family Foundation. The Smart Boards are located in classrooms around the school.
Our students are excited as well as our teachers and staff.

I am a firm believer of Catholic Education and believe that Faith, Education, Service, Discipline and Family are five core values for building our children’s future.

Please be sure and look at the RESOURCE tab on the SCS homepage.  There are alot of websights available for thechildren to practice many different skills.

Grades 6-8 is beginning to work on Microsoft PowerPoint and it's functions.  They will be using 50 Quick and Easy PowerPoint Activities which covers all the functions.  They will then apply their knowledge to a powerpoint presentation.  They are also continuing along with Type To Learn3.  Some of the students have completed all 25 lessons and have moved on to Type to Learn4.   They have been given projects from their teachers in which they are creating Power Point Presentations.

Grades K-5 is working with We Can Use the Computer Books, these corralate with their grade level, then they are given small tasks to further their understanding.  They are also going to be doing some Microsoft Excel work, which is chart and graph making. Grade three has begun using Max Show to create a small power point presentation using their Italy Projects they did with Mrs . Chambers.

K-5 Library is continuing with all the parts and functions of the Dictionary.  In this Techno world, it is so easy to "GOOGLE", but children still need to know how to use a dictionary.  It's easy to look up a word on Google, but that only gives them a definition.  They need to know Guide words, pronunciation, parts of speech, example sentences, alphabetizing, phonetic spelling and so on.  By the time they are finished with Library in Grade 5, they are all well versed in this area.
