Bio
My name is Diane Knopeck. I have been the Kindergarten teacher at Southtowns Catholic School for 2 years. Previously, I was a Special Education Preschool Teacher at Baker Victory Services. I received my Bachelors Degree in Childhood Education at SUNY Fredonia in 2007. I am currently working on completing my Masters Degree in Special Education at Medaille College. I absolutely love my job here at Southtowns Catholic School; the students, parents and staff are absolutely amazing to work with!! I am so blessed to be a part of this wonderful community.

Just a reminder...homework folders are to be turned in every Friday. Please complete the daily homework activities in pencil, unless otherwise noted. If for some reason we do not have school on a Friday, the homework folders will be collected and checked the following Monday.

We are just finishing up Chapter 8: Subtraction. This week we will be making flashcards using the numbers 0-5 to make subtraction and addition problems. Once these cards come home with your child, please review them nightly, if possible, along with your Reading sight words. Thank you for your continued support!!

In Chapter 9 children will.....

Please review the coins with your child, and the value of each coin at home or when you are out shopping to reinforce skills!!
Books in a Bag
Every Friday your child will be coming home with Books in a Bag. Please have your child read these books to you over the weekend. Encourage your child to sound out missed words as they read. Please have your child return the bag with the books in it the following Monday.

Book Fair
This week our class will be visiting the Book Fair. All books are buy one, get one free. If you would like your child to purchase a book from the Book Fair, please send money to school with them in a sealed envelope. Just a reminder, as of recently, Scholastic has to collect tax on book purchases.

Field Trip!!
Field Trip!!
On June 13, 2012 we will be taking a field trip to the Strong National Museum of Play!! We will be leaving at 8:15 am, and returning back to school at 3:30 pm. Parent are welcome, and encouraged to join us!! If you are interested in coming along, the cost for each adult is $13.00. Permission slips went home today, and are due back to school with the necessary payment my May 16, 2012.
