Dear Parents,

The Catholic School Network, which consists of hundreds of parents in Catholic schools around New York State, has been active for several years. Coordinated by the Catholic Conference in Albany, the CSN has been seeking funding from the government to help parents pay for children’s education and to expand transportation, technology, technology, teacher training and instructional services in our schools.

However, a greater effort is needed for our voice to affect change. It is for this reason that the Catholic Conference has launched a new and exciting statewide Catholic Advocacy Network. The new network will not replace the CSN but will allow the nearly 200,000 families whose children are in Catholic Schools in New York State to be informed about and speak out on other critical issues beyond those related to education.

I strongly encourage you to join the network. You can do so by simply visiting the NYS Catholic Conference website at: www.nyscatholic.org and click on “Join the Network” or by mailing the attached coupon to Catholic Advocacy Network, NYS Catholic Conference, 465 State Street, Albany New York 12203. Feel free to choose any of the interested areas, but please at least check the education box. Please encourage at least your network to join but also as many of the parents in your school and parish.

You can also visit the Legislative Action Center on the Catholic Conference’s website which will enable you to instantly view “Action Alerts,” find your legislator through a zip code lookup, e-mail or write on many critical issues and monitor important legislation.

Directing your child’s education is a fundamental right and responsibility which should be supported by government. Be an active member of the Catholic Advocacy Network and help bring about the many needed changes to New York’s laws.

Thank you for considering to join this Catholic Advocacy Network. Most of the information for the next writing campaign for the Catholic School Network will be coming through this new Catholic Advocacy Network.
